Where is Leukerbad and Gemmi

Leukerbad is a municipality in the district of Leuk in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is located at the end of Dala valley at the bottom of Gemmi pass and is home to around 1,321 people. It covers an area of 67.32 km2.

ABSOLUTE HIKING EXPERIENCE IN THE SWISS ALPS


Those who also enjoy some exercise along with relaxation, this thermal resort is just the right place to be. Explore this sunny region on one of the hiking trails crisscrossing the area. Beautiful trails of varying degrees of difficulty run through stunning scenery such as the ones up Gemmi Pass, Susten Pass or Torrenthorn boasting breathtaking vantage points. Stop at one of the on-mountain restaurants serving traditional food.

If you want to take it easy take the cable car to Torrenthorn or Gemmi Pass and enjoy the picturesque scenery.

One of the recommended trails is Saum trail running from Leukerbad to Kandersteg via Gemmi Pass along romantic Daubensee lake.

Do not miss out on the hot springs’ footbridge at Dala gorge and get a close look of nature and the hot springs. A 35m waterfall is not only impressive but also provides some cooling in hot summer days.

CLIMBING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING AT GEMMI


Mountain bikers are very welcome in the heart of Valais – the Pfyn-Finges Biking region: 225km of mountain and enduro trails ranging from demanding to easy provide spectacular riding fun. 29 km Torrent-Trail is the region’s highlight. There is more fun on the Monster Ride, where you ride from Rinderhütte cottage to the valley on a scooter.

Via ferratas with amazing views get your adrenaline pumping. Climbers can choose from trail of varying difficulty suitable for beginners and experts. The region is home to the longest and most demanding via ferrata of Switzerland: at 2,943 m Daubenhorn.

SKIING AND WINTER FUN IN THE SWISS MUNICIPALITY


The region is home to two ski resorts: Torrent Ski Resort boasts 50 km of piste suitable for both beginners and experts. While skiing, enjoy the breathtaking view of twenty Valais mountains higher than 4,000m and of the Rhone valley. Sportarena Snow Park in Erli close to the centre is great fun for the little ones.

Outdoor : 4 km of toboggan runs, 18 km of x-country ski trails, 50 km of winter hiking trails.

The offer of Leukerbad Sportarena includes climbing wall, tennis and squash courts and various indoor activities.
