A summer holiday in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is inspirational through its diversity and full of contrast. While Altenmarkt is a traditional market town open to new ideas in a spacious valley (842 m), with real charm and strong roots, the luxury hotel village of Zauchensee nestles in an impressive mountain panorama in the heart of nature.
Zauchensee is located at 1,350 above sea level in the province of Salzburg. The community covers an area of 48.63 km ² and has 100 inhabitants.

The Atomic Vital-Park with its clear signposting, covering 48 km², offers the perfect location for healthy activities such as hiking, Nordic walking, horse riding, running, cycling or mountain biking as well as climbing, canyoning, river tubing or Bockerl for the more adventurous. The exciting world of this recreational eldorado covers the whole of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee with its four very different areas.
The sporty World Cup town of Zauchensee is the highest, snow-sure ski area in Salzburger Sportworld. It promises ski fun from December until April.
Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is part of Salzburger Sportworld, in the heart of Ski amadé, Austria’s largest ski region with 760 km of pistes and 270 lifts to choose from.
The Zauchensee ski area is one of the best and more reliable for snow due too its high altitude (up to 2344m) and its excellent infrastructure with extensive cover provided by snow cannons. Two feet of snow until April are not uncommon in the snow-sure skiing paradise Zauchensee.
