Hall in Tirol's town square and centre lies about 10 km east of Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol. The medieval city of Hall is one of the most beautiful towns in the Inn valley and has one of the best preserved historic centres in Austria. In the middle ages salt production made Hall the most important economic centre of Northern Tirol. The importance of salt is also displayed in the city arms – two lions holding a salt shaker.
