Gstaad and Zweisimmen lie in the Bernese Oberland, canton of Bern in Switzerland. Both municipalities belong to the administrative district of Obersimmental - Saanen. Saanen covers an area of 120 km² and is home to around 6.900 people, 3.600 live in Gstaad.

There are several ski areas in Gstaad: Wispile, Eggli – Saanen – Chalberhöni - Videmanette and Wasserngrat. The ski resorts of Saanenmöser, Schönried, Zweisimmen, Gsteig, Lauenen and Les Diablerets - Alpes Vaudoises are also very close. Both, skiers and snowboarders enjoy visiting the region as it is a true winter wonderland. The ski network of Gstaad Mountain Rides is one of the biggest and most snow reliable ski resorts in Switzerland, featuring 53 gondolas and 220 km of piste. Besides alpine ski runs, the region features perfectly groomed x-country skiing and winter hiking trails.
