The Bavarian district town of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is about 170 kilometres from Munich. It is home to around 40,808 people, and the fourth largest city in Upper Palatinate.

Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is a popular holiday destination with many places of interest:

Take a stroll through the old town past historic buildings and the town hall dating from the Middle Ages.

Another cultural highlight is the Lothar Fischer Museum, exhibiting works by L. Fischer and his contemporaries. The museum is just a five minutes' walk from the city centre next to Neumarkt's city park. Other museums include the museum of historic Maybach vehicles, the Neumarkt Brewery Museum in the Glossner-Bräu, the 1st Bavarian Butchery and White Sausage Museum and the City Museum.

Visit St. John's Church and its copy of the famous Grünewald ‘Isenheim Altarpiece’, the Romanesque baptismal font, the late Gothic Madonna, the Gothic corpus of Christ and the Gothic picture panels. Neumarkt has been a cathedral city since 2015.

There are numerous lakes in the area for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. Visit Schlossbad features a brine pool, adventure pool and sauna area.

Other leisure activities in Neumarkt include golfing, hiking with donkeys, a visit to the observatory or cycling along the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal or in the LGS Park.
