The community of Grau Roig
Grau Roig is located in the east of Andorra in the local community of Encamp at an elevation of 2,120 meters and it is the only non-populated ski resort in the Grandvalira ski area.
What’s happening in Grau Roig?
A special event is held every winter at the end of February in the area of Grau Roig in the Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig ski resort: the Speed Skiing World Cup on the 1 km long “Les Antenes” slope. In addition to skiing, winter vacationers are offered many other activities in the snow: snowshoe or dogsled tours, snowmobile trips, helicopter rides, archery, a multi-venture route and much more.
Grandvalira – the largest ski area in the Iberian Peninsula
After installation of the first ski lift in Andorra on top of the Coll Blanc in Pas de la Casa in 1956, the mountain was expanded over the years with a multitude of lifts and runs on both sides of the ski resort of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig. This is where the first snow cannons were found in the Pyrenees in the 1980s.
In 2003, the long-awaited joining of the two ski resorts of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-el Tarter took place. This resulted in Grandvalira, the largest ski network in the Pyrenees. The region now consists of a total of 6 ski areas with 65 lifts, 118 runs totaling 210 km, 4 snow parks, a freestyle academy, a family park, 6 free-ride zones, 9 à la carte restaurants, 40 self-serve restaurants, bars and much more. Over 1,000 snow cannons provide optimal snow conditions, covering 43 % of the total ski network, and perfect connections between the ski areas.
