Forte dei Marmi is a charming coastal town in the Tuscany region of Italy. It is located in the province of Lucca and lies on the Ligurian Sea at the Apuan Alps. The town is located approx. 35 km north-west of Lucca and around 90 km west of Florence. Neighbouring municipalities include Montignoso, Pietrasanta and Seravezza. Forte dei Marmi is a popular holiday destination for visitors from all over the world who want to enjoy both the sea and the mountains. It is home to more than 6,940 people and covers an area of around 9 km². What to do in Forte dei Marmi?
The Italian municipality is home to many sights such as Il Fortino, an old fortress tower built in the 18th century by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Leopold I, to protect the coast from pirate attacks. In the past, the harbour was used to ship the valuable Carrara marble, which was quarried in the Apuan Alps. Sculptors likes Michelangelo used this special marble for their works. Today, the fortress, also known as "Forte Lorense", hosts events and exhibitions.

What’s the weather like in Forte dei Marmi?
The Italian municipality enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot and mild summers. Maximum temperatures from June to September are around 28°C to 32°C and plenty of sunshine. It is the ideal time and the perfect weather to enjoy your summer holidays. In the winter, temperatures drop to eight to 15°C still pleasant enough for outdoor activities.
