The City of Senec

Situated in the western part of Slovakia and only 25 km from Bratislava, Senec covers an area of about 39 km2 and has a population of around 17,800 people. Senec is famous for the so-called Sunny Lakes – water-filled former quarries. The town lies in the Danube Lowland only 30 km from the Austrian and Hungarian border.

Things to Do in Senec?

Mild water temperatures (25°C in average) and more than 2,200 hours of sunshine attract many tourists especially in summer. The Sunny Lakes of Senec are 115ha big and up to 12 m deep. Bathers will enjoy the wide variety of leisure activities available. Senec Aquapark offers recreation year round.

The town centre of Senec is famous for its historical buildings and monuments, such as the impressive Episcopal Church, the Town Square with the Turkish building and a pillory from the 16th century or the Renaissance Monastery, once the home of the Esterhazy family. Popular excursion destinations are also the Bee Museum, the Kráľová pri Senci Tiger Station or the ceramic manufacturing plant in Modra. Červený Kameň Castle in Častá showcases spectacular birds of prey displays.
