The Czech town of Staré Město, also Staré Město pod Sněžníkem (German: Deutsch Mährisch Altstadt, former name: Goldeck), forms part of the Okres Šumperk district and lies at 538m above sea level. Staré Město is home to 1,739 people and covers an area of 8630 hectare. The town is situated in the Olomoucký Kraj region in the northwest of Moravia, surrounded by Śnieżnik Mountains, Bielen Mountains and Hrubý Jeseník Mountains. Králický Sněžník is only 12 km from the town.

Skiareálu Kunčice ski resort features 10 groomed ski trails and a beginner’s T-bar. Kulaťák Skibar right at the mountain station serves traditional food. X-country skiers will enjoy the 20km cross-country skiing trail at 1,350 m above sea level. There are several smaller ski resorts in the neighbourhood of Staré Město pod Sněžníkem, such as Kaste Petříkov.
