Where is Comano?

Comano is a municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Its calm and quiet location is perfect to relax on a summer vacation. Have a look at our live web cams and enjoy the idyllic panorama.

Since 1976 it has been the headquarters of TSI, the Italian language TV station.

Comano is about 460km from Trieste and 210km from Bregenz at Lake Constance; lake Como in Italy in only a 51-minute drive from Comano.

The church of Santa Maria della Purificazione dating from the 14th century features a very beautiful garden – the perfect place to relax.

A trip to Madonna del Sasso Sanctuary at Locarno – a popular place of pilgrimage.

For art lovers: “Tracing Nag Arnoldi”, the sculptor Nag Arnoldi lived in Comano; this trail leads to several of his artworks as well as his atelier.

Lugano is home to several museums: “Arte e Cultura” featuring stunning view to the lake. Museo delle Culture, Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana and “Museo Cantonale di Storia Naturale”, San Lorenzo in Lugano Cathedral.

Lugano

Big city with small town charm –Lugano is the biggest city of Ticino and sits a Lake Lugano, surrounded by mountains. Lugano is very Mediterranean. The city centre is traffic-free and the ideal place to stroll along the romantic lakefront, to have dinner at a restaurant or to relax at Belvedere Park.

Locarno

Tradition meets creativity: idyllic old town with many restaurants, churches, museums, parks, entertainment, and lots more.

Locarno is home to the famous Locarno Film Festival.

Caslano

Picturesque village at the lake and part of a nature reserve. Fantastic trails, ecclesiastical art, Piazza, antique buildings, and many outdoor activities make Caslano a popular destination. Tip: visit to the chocolate museum.

Lago di Lugano (Lake Lugano)

Lake Lugano is only a few minutes away, a lake crossing borders - 63% belong to the Swiss canton of Ticino and 37% to Italy. An artificial bank separates the lake in a south and a north basin. Steep slopes, soft wind, mild temperatures, stunning alpine panorama and incredible views to Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore.

Lago d‘Origlio

Surrounded by picturesque hills, Lago d‘Origlio is a fantastic destination: beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, a great place to recharge your batteries. Visit Origlio San Giorgio church and enjoy the view.

Lago di Muzzano

During the ice age two glaciers merged and “Laghetto di Muzzano” developed. The lake is a conservation area, and bathing is not allowed. The area is home to various animals and plants.

The sunniest mountain in Switzerland: Monte Bre

925m Monte Bre boasts a magic view of Lake Lugano. You can take the cable car up the mountain; the rare and protected Christmas rose grows here.

Visit the village Bré after the hike.

Monte San Salvatore

A cable car from Paradiso leads the top at 600m, where you find a church, a nature trail, a museum, a mountain restaurant and via ferratas.

The weather in Comano

Featuring about 2,000 sunny hours, Lugano is one of the warmest places in Switzerland.

Ticino enjoys a mild and Mediterranean climate, the summer (July/August) sees about eight hours of sun and temperatures of 27 Grad Celsius – perfect for a dip into a lake. Temperature in spring and fall are about 12°C with about 10 rainy days per month.
